  When a roof is cleaned, regardless of the chemical used, pressure is needed to remove the stains from the roof.   All Roof-A-Cide™ applicators use the same low pressure equipment specifically designed for Roof Cleaning and Roof-A-Cide™ application.  The water pressure exerted on the roof is extremely low therefore minimizing wear and tear to the roof surface.   Although most "Roof Cleaners" claim to use low pressure or a high volume rinse, they use standard or commercial pressure washing equipment, which allows for extremely high water pressures.  This high water pressure on a roofing surface can lead to granule loss, resulting in exposing the waterproofing asphalt in the shingle to the elements which can lead to premature aging.  From a Professional Roofing standpoint, a roof should not be cleaned more than once or never if possible.  When a roof is cleaned, the algae that was removed will likely return faster than it initially appeared.  This is because the shingles have been made more porous as a result of the cleaning process.  Immediately after a Roof-A-Cide™ applicator cleans a roof, it is treated with Roof-A-Cide™, which will keep the roof clean for at least 2 years guaranteed.  Roof-A-Cide™ is the ONLY EPA approved preventative specifically designed and approved for use on roofs in the U.S.   If the roof is left untreated after cleaning, the only option to keep it clean is repeat cleaning or applying cleaning agents that have NOT been approved by the EPA, which have been shown to dry out asphalt shingles when used repeatedly.  Applying Roof-A-Cide™ every few years will eliminate the need for future cleaning and unnecessary wear and tear on the roof.  In addition to prevention being the preferred method to keeping the roof clean, it is much more cost effective over the long term.  It is simply much cheaper to get the roof wet with an EPA appoved preventative than to wash and clean stains for hours.  We at Sierra Construction Group are qualified to install, repair and maintain your roof.  Your roof is one of the most expensive replacement item you have with respect to your home and should not be trusted to anyone other than a trained Roofing Professional that is licensed, insured, and competent in all phases of Roofing Construction!  Roof-A-Cide products have been used on over 80,000 homes throughout the U.S.
